Beyond Tradeoffs: Market Reforms and Equitable Growth in Latin America

Summary

You are cordially invited to a luncheon to discuss Beyond Tradeoffs: Market Reforms and Equitable Growth in Latin America, a new Brookings/InterAmerican Dialogue book edited by Nancy Birdsall, Carol Graham, and Richard Sabot. A brief introduction to the themes of the book will be followed by a panel discussion. Open discussion with the panelists, the editors, and the authors of the volume will follow.

In Beyond Tradeoffs: Market Reforms and Equitable Growth in Latin America, the authors challenge that view, demonstrating that the region has a unique opportunity to simultaneously pursue efficiency and equity goals through market-friendly measures in a number of critical policy areas. They note that the implementation of extensive macroeconomic reforms provides the ideal framework in which to implement such measures.
