Clearly [Japan abandoning its longstanding policy on pacifism is] not happening now. I think that's why the government had to settle with just reinterpreting its right to exercise collective self defense. Now with, you know, more fluidity of politics, with new challenges in the its neighborhood, Japan feels that it needs to deepen its cooperation, its partnership with the United States and be a more reliable ally that can also come to the help of the United States.
