Tafshier Cosby, brings over 25 years of advocacy, organizing and community empowerment experience to her role as The Senior Director of the Center for Organizing and Partnership at National Parents Union. A dedicated leader, Tafshier advocates for the civil rights of Black and brown children to receive equitable and quality education across the United States. Having worked in many facets of education, Tafshier knows that having educational options in under-resourced communities is critical to children’s futures.
In addition to serving at National Parents Union, She is also the CEO of Parent Impact, an organization created by parents for parents dedicated to empowering, advocating, and creating opportunities for parents to lead in their communities.
As a volunteer leader, Tafshier has also had the honor to serve on many state-wide and national committees and coalitions such as the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE)’s Restart and Recovery Committee, New Jersey State PTA – Education Committee, Trustee – KIPP NJ Team and Family Board, and the National Partnership for Student Success.
Tafshier has completed two education fellowships, 50CAN’s YouCAN and KIPP NJ’s Impact Leader. Tafshier is currently in cohort 7th of the PIE Network Leadership.
Tafshier is NJ certified board member and holds a certification in education finance from Georgetown University/Edunomics Lab. Tafshier is native Newarker, and with her husband is a proud Parent of three adult children and three beautiful grandchildren.
