Dr. Aysu Kes Erkul is a scholar and expert in the fields of urban sociology, smart cities, digital society, and digital sociology. After her undergraduate studies in Sociology at Middle East Technical University (METU), she earned an M.S. in Urban Policy Planning and Local Governments. She obtained her doctoral degree from Hacettepe University, during which she conducted research for her doctoral thesis at UMASS, Amherst. Dr. Kes Erkul held a visiting scholar position at MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning. After holding various academic positions in leading universities, presently, she is a professor at Ankara Science University, Department of Public Administration and Political Science. Her current research focuses on AI and its social, economic and policy implications. Dr. Aysu Kes Erkul has been a visiting researcher at The Brookings Institution in 2024.
