WASHINGTON, D.C. – Marta E. Wosińska, Ph.D. has been appointed as a visiting fellow at the USC-Brookings Schaeffer Initiative for Health Policy.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Wosińska join the team. Her deep expertise in the economics of the pharmaceutical industry will greatly strengthen our policy research work in that area,” said director of the USC-Brookings Schaeffer Initiative for Health Policy Richard Frank.
Marta E. Wosińska, Ph.D., is a healthcare economist with a particular expertise in prescription drugs and experience spanning academia and the federal government. Dr. Wosińska’s government experience includes serving as director of the Bureau of Economics at the Federal Trade Commission, chief healthcare economist in the Office of Inspector General at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and director of economics staff at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Center for Drug Evaluation & Research.
Dr. Wosińska also served as economic advisor to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee, providing drug market analysis and expert guidance for the Committee’s bipartisan investigative and legislative work on drug pricing. At academic institutions, she was consulting professor and deputy director for policy at the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy at Duke University and an assistant professor of marketing at the Harvard Business School.
The USC-Brookings Schaeffer Initiative for Health Policy is a partnership between the Economic Studies program at the Brookings Institution and the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics that aims to inform the national health care debate with rigorous, evidence-based analysis leading to practical recommendations using the collaborative strengths of USC and Brookings. The Initiative was founded by Leonard D. Schaeffer to improve health policy by supporting high-quality research.
