House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill (R-Ark.) will outline the committee’s agenda for this Congress at the Hutchins Center on Fiscal & Monetary Policy at Brookings on June 23 at 2:00 pm. The jurisdiction of the committee includes the banking system, housing, insurance, the market for U.S. Treasury securities, the Federal Reserve, and financial regulatory agencies. Following his remarks, Hill will be interviewed by Nellie Liang, a senior fellow in the Hutchins Center and former U.S. Treasury undersecretary for domestic finance, and take questions from the audience.
A ninth-generation Arkansan, Hill has represented the state’s 2nd Congressional District since 2015. He assumed the chairmanship of the committee this year. Hill previously worked as a Senate staffer and in the George H. W. Bush White House and Treasury, where he was deputy assistant secretary for corporate finance. Before his government service, he was founder and chief executive officer of Delta Trust & Banking Corp. from 1999 to 2014.
