With the international community now emphasizing the critical task of Palestinian economic, political, and security reform, much of the focus of these efforts has fallen on one man: Salam Fayyad, the newly appointed Finance Minister of the Palestinian Authority.
Salam Fayyad was appointed Minister of Finance in June 2002 and immediately assumed responsibility for the complex task of reforming the Palestinian Authority?s financial system. Prior to this, Fayyad served as the Regional Manager for the West Bank and Gaza of the Arab Bank. Fayyad also spent 14 years with the International Monetary Fund, where he served as Resident Representative in the West Bank and Gaza.
