2025
Young people today face myriad interconnected challenges, but education systems around the world do little to equip them with the necessary skills to confront them. For the last two years, the Network for Education Systems Transformation (NEST) has worked to change that by researching the question, “How well are education systems creating opportunities for children and young people to learn what matters?”
On Wednesday, September 24, on the sidelines of the 2025 United Nations General Assembly, NEST launched the initial results of its research on education systems transformation. This forthcoming report series explores findings on opportunities and barriers to systemic change toward a breadth of skills across and in each of NEST’s ten local contexts (India, Pakistan, Jordan, Kenya, Malawi, Ghana, South Africa, Chile, Peru, and Mexico). Featuring NEST members from around the world, this event introduced the network’s journey, discussed its current practices and path toward sustainability, and shared broad themes from its research.
