What should fiscal policy look like in an era marked by climate risks, increasing care needs for changing demographics, economic insecurity, and declining development cooperation? How can countries transform tax and expenditure policies into actionable choices given political constraints? The Brookings Center on Sustainable Development’s publication “Innovations in public finance: A new fiscal paradigm for gender equality, climate adaptation, and care” is a collection of thirteen essays that provides rigorous, evidence-based guidance for policy design to address these challenges. Grounded in a holistic approach that integrates taxation and public expenditure, the volume examines innovations in domestic resource mobilization and climate adaptation finance, distills insights and lessons from Ghana, India, Albania, and Colombia, and proposes macro-fiscal pathways to expand care infrastructure and services.
On November 12, the Center for Sustainable Development will host a conversation on how innovations in fiscal policy and climate finance can promote equality and sustainability. The event aims to connect evidence to practice, informing the formulation of fiscal policy, regulatory design, and investment strategies that advance gender equality and resilience. The event will include a brief welcome, a panel discussion, and a fireside chat.
The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions via e-mail to [email protected].
