Moving towards elections on March 20, Kazakhstan faces two main challenges: economic difficulties (given the low oil-prices) and the uncertainty after the end of President Nazarbayev's 25 years in power. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan is pulled into separate directions by China and Russia: while the former speaks about a "new silk road," the latter wants to make the nation a part of the "Eurasian Project".
