In his new book, Good Value: Reflections on Money, Morality and an Uncertain World (Atlantic Monthly Press, 2010), Stephen Green discusses how the forces of globalization and urbanization in today's world resulted from "human desires for exploration and exchange." Green examines whether market capitalism is the best system for creating wealth that benefits all, and explores how the global financial sector could respond to the current crisis in a way that aligns our human desires with our spiritual and psychological needs.
On February 16, Green joined Senior Fellow E.J. Dionne, Jr. to discuss his book and share his insights on money and morality in the context of today's increasingly interdependent world economy. An ordained Anglican minister, Green has been Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc since 2006. He became Chairman of the British Bankers’ Association in 2006 and is currently Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Business Council for Britain, having been a member since its inception in July 2007.
