In the lead up to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to India, Tanvi Madan suggests that the narrow “pro” or “anti” India label often assigned to American policymakers neglects to take into account a more holistic view of political circumstances, motivations, and outside actors that inform policymakers’ approaches to India.
