Victor L. Hymes is President & CEO of Legato Capital Management, LLC, an investment management firm that identifies, seeds, and develops entrepreneurial investment teams. Prior to founding Legato in 2004, he spent a decade as an institutional portfolio manager at Scudder, Stevens & Clark, Inc. Following Scudder’s reorganization as Zurich Scudder Investments, Inc., Victor headed Zurich’s $80 billion North American institutional business. His professional career began with a decade of work at Goldman Sachs Group and Kidder Peabody & Co.
Victor is an independent director of Principal Funds, Inc., where he is a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee. At the Brookings Institution, Victor is Treasurer of the Board, Chair of the Budget & Finance Committee, and a member of the Investment and Compensation Committees. He is a former member of the boards of Oberlin College, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation, Earthjustice, NRDC and the National Audubon Society.
Victor is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
