Commander Mike Roberts is a U.S. Coast Guard response officer specializing in leading deployable specialized forces (DSF) and orchestrating cross-governmental coordination for counter-narcotics, homeland security, and public safety missions. His career spans all three prongs of the Coast Guard’s “Operational Trident,” encompassing service at sea aboard high endurance cutters, shore-based operations as a sector command duty officer, and command of DSF units providing higher-level tactical capabilities for security and law enforcement missions globally. A seasoned strategist in interagency environments, he served as a legislative fellow in the U.S. Senate, as a duty officer at the American Embassy in The Bahamas for the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos (OPBAT), and as the executive assistant to the director of the Department of Homeland Security’s Joint Task Force Maritime.
A life-long learner, Commander Roberts has undergraduate and post-graduate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in engineering, mathematics and natural sciences, computer science, emergency and disaster management, strategic leadership, and joint warfare. He remains dedicated to advancing maritime security, strengthening interagency partnerships, and ensuring operational readiness across the homeland security enterprise to combat complex global threats.
