Kelebogile Zvobgo is a nonresident senior fellow in the Foreign Policy program at Brookings. She is also the Mansfield Associate Professor of Government at William & Mary and the founder and director of the International Justice Lab.
Kelebogile’s research, which engages questions in human rights, transitional justice, and international law and courts, is published in eminent peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Politics, International Studies Quarterly, and Journal of Human Rights. She has also written for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, and The Washington Post, and has been interviewed by ABC, CNN, NPR, and PRX, among others.
Her first book, “Governing Truth: NGOs and the Politics of Transitional Justice,” is forthcoming with Oxford University Press. In ongoing research, she examines public opinion on the International Criminal Court, transitional justice for racial injustice in the United States, and international human rights advocacy.
She has won several awards for her work, including Best Paper in Human Rights from both the American Political Science Association and International Studies Association, and Best Dissertation in Human Rights from both the American Political Science Association and International Studies Association. She is also the recipient of the Emerging Human Rights Leader Award from the United Nations Association, National Capital Area.
Kelebogile was previously a fellow-in-residence at the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities; a senior fellow with the Berlin-Potsdam Research Group: “The International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline ?”; a faculty fellow at the Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention; and a National Science Foundation graduate research fellow.
She holds a bachelor’s in international relations and French language and literature from Pomona College and doctorate in political science and international relations from the University of Southern California.
