Hannah Stephens is a senior research assistant at the Center for Community Uplift at Brookings Metro. Her research investigates the interplay between wealth, class, race, and gender, as well as community resilience at the neighborhood and city level. She is a proud AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps NCCC alum, having served throughout the Midwest and with Habitat for Humanity in Charlotte, N.C. Stephens has more than a decade of nonprofit experience and a research background that spans from the spatial analysis of resource distribution to investigatory research on climate policy resistance. Stephens has also worked as a political organizer focused on climate and racial justice in the South. Stephens received a bachelor’s degree in political science and international studies with a concentration in peace, conflict, and identity from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
