Ben Cahen is interim chief financial officer at Brookings, with more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit finance. He provides leadership on financial strategy, planning, and risk management. Cahen joined Brookings in 2010, managing the Foreign Policy program’s finances, including its three foreign centers at the time. During his tenure at Brookings, he has led initiatives spanning annual planning and cross-functional collaboration, while driving operational efficiencies and cost savings.
Prior to joining, Cahen held several roles at the New Democrat Network, including comptroller, and consulted at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Cahen earned a B.S. in finance from Miami University and an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
