The Brookings Institution is saddened by the passing of our dear friend Arne Sorenson, who served as a Brookings Trustee since 2015 and as Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee since 2018.

“In his career and philanthropy, Arne exemplified kindness and integrity,” said Brookings Institution President John R. Allen. “He was a model leader who recognized that success is born from inclusivity and empowering and supporting those with whom you work. On behalf of the Brookings community, I offer my deepest condolences to Arne’s family, friends, and colleagues.”

“Arne was an inspirational leader and cherished friend with a generosity of spirit without limit,” added Brookings Board Co-Chairs Glenn Hutchins and Suzanne Nora Johnson. “He will be greatly missed.”
