Dr. A. Lee Fritschler has returned to the Brookings Institution as vice president and director of the Center for Public Policy Education (CPPE), effective today, Brookings President Michael H. Armacost announced.
Fritschler directed CPPE—which provides public policy educational seminars to a wide range of individuals and institutions in the United States and abroad — from 1981 to 1987. Subsequently he served as president of Dickinson College from 1987 to 1999, and as assistant secretary of education for postsecondary education from 1999 to 2001.
“I am delighted by the prospect of Lee’s return,” Armacost said. “Under his previous leadership, CPPE achieved exceptional success financially and programmatically. He established especially close working relationships with the research programs in the institution, and proved to be a very creative designer of courses for both corporate managers and senior public servants.”
Armacost also announced that Nanette Blandin, who has directed CPPE for the last three-and-a-half years, will remain with the program as a senior staff member with particular responsibilities for corporate programs.
“Nanette has performed exemplary service for CPPE, engaging Brookings scholars more actively in its programs, expanding program offerings, and extending the Center’s customized courses for corporate and government clients,” Armacost said.
