Honoring Economic Studies emeritus fellows
Washington, D.C. — Brookings Institution President John R. Allen announced today the opening of recruitment for the third class of David M. Rubenstein Fellows.
The challenges facing the United States and the world require rigorous, innovative, evidence-based research that generates impactful policy solutions. Through the Rubenstein Fellows program, made possible by a generous gift from Brookings Trustee David M. Rubenstein, Brookings is seeking to increase diversity in our scholarly community by recruiting the next generation of rising stars and creative thinkers to help achieve our mission of improving governance in the United States and across the world.
Brookings announced the inaugural class of Rubenstein Fellows for the two-year fellowship in 2017. The second class of fellows were appointed in 2019. Fellows come from diverse backgrounds and are essential to the Institution’s ability to make an impact, especially as issues of race and discrimination have become central to the national debate.
Fellows can pursue scholarship under one of our five research programs or the Institution’s Presidential Research Priorities which are the Future of the Global Middle Class; Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technology; American Leadership in the 21st Century; and Race, Justice, and Equity. Rubenstein Fellows will have the opportunity to enhance the policy impact of their ideas and academic achievements by working with Brookings’s network of scholars and experts and have access to Institutional resources.
Brookings has begun accepting applications for the 2021 class of Rubenstein Fellows. For this third class, the Institution is looking for ten additional outstanding early-to mid-career scholars and policy experts from a diverse array of backgrounds, experience, and scholarship expertise.
