The Richard Merkin Initiative on Clinical Leadership and Payment Reform and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) have partnered to integrate community and social services within traditional asthma care for high-risk patients. The goal is to engage and support clinical and community leaders in efforts to improve care and better understand the evolving landscape of delivery and payment reform.

On May 4, the organizations hosted a webinar focusing on a successful community intervention deployed by the St. Louis chapter of the AAFA. Speakers discussed payment and policy options currently being tested by the Center for Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Services and other agencies, assessed challenges and opportunities for innovation, and provided practical strategies and next steps for integrating sustainable payment and system transformation.
