On Tuesday, December 11, Brookings hosted a screening of “Vice Special Report: Panic: The Untold Story of the 2008 Financial Crisis.” The film is a collaboration of Vice and HBO that “provides the definitive look inside the most successful—and most loathed—taxpayer-funded bailout in history.” The film includes interviews with Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, as well as Henry Paulson, Ben Bernanke, Timothy Geithner, Nancy Pelosi, Rahm Emanuel, Josh Bolten, and Jamie Dimon.

Following the screening, the film’s director John Maggio joined an expert panel to respond to the film’s narrative of the crisis and discuss the importance of any narrative to public understanding and policymaking moving forward.
