The Brookings-Tsinghua Center for Public Policy and The School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) are honored to invite Mr. Cesare Merlini, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Italian Institute for International Affairs, and nonresident senior fellow at Brookings Institution, to give a lecture on current transformations of society relevant to international relations, with emphasis on demography, aging, gender relations, information, telecommunications and the digital revolution; and the consequences on economic development, security, culture, and international norms and institutions. Mei Ciqi, assistant professor at SPPM, will moderate the lecture and discussion.

Mr. Merlini’s areas of expertise include transatlantic relations, European integration, nuclear non-proliferation and, more recently, the impact of societal change on international relations.

The lecture will be in English, without simultaneous interpretation.
