Governance Studies at Brookings is pleased to announce the establishment of a new research entity, the Center for Effective Public Management (CEPM), which will focus on identifying and solving political and governance challenges in 21st century America. This center’s forthcoming work will concentrate on reinvigorating the U.S. government – along with public and private sector leadership – to be more effective and capable. Working alongside a wide array of domestic policy experts and actors, the CEPM will explore current problems in the American political system and ways to improve the democratic process.
On September 27, Governance Studies hosted a forum to commemorate the creation of its newest research center. To mark the occasion, former Vice President Al Gore delivered a keynote address about his own views on government reinvention and tackling American governance challenges. Senior Fellow Elaine Kamarck, who will serve as the founding director of the CEPM, provided an overview of the new center’s vision, future policy research work, and goals.
