Response to Senate Finance Committee request for information on policies for lowering drug prices

The request for information (RFI) was submitted to the Senate Finance Committee Minority Staff on August 17, 2026.

Richard G. Frank and Rachel Sachs recently responded to a request for information from Ranking Member Ron Wyden of the Senate Committee on Finance on lowering drug prices, enhancing prescription drug affordability, and bolstering biopharmaceutical innovation in the U.S.

Their response examines policy options ranging from international reference pricing and strengthening the impact of the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program to targeted tax incentives for early-stage biotechnology firms.
