Immigrant Children and their Future Role in the American Economy

Nearly a quarter of schoolchildren in the United States are immigrants or the children of immigrants. A substantial percentage of these children, especially those from Latin America, are falling behind in school.

In a recent event, Brookings expert Audrey Singer discussed the importance of taking the education of immigrants and their children seriously. She noted that children are a huge part of the future American workforce and that it makes excellent economic sense to start getting children prepared for their role in the economic prosperity of this country.
