This presentation provides an overview of six 2030 energy targets considered in Adele Morris’s perspective paper, Benefits and Costs of the Energy Targets for the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
These targets include (1) increase access to modern forms of energy to 100% of the population, i.e. a “zero target” of unserved households; (2) double the rate of energy efficiency improvement globally; (3) double the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix; (4) phase out fossil fuel subsidies; (5) provide access to modern cooking fuels to 30% of the populations currently using traditional fuels; and (6) double investment in R&D for energy technologies.
