The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) is up for its first formal review in July 2026. Projections predict that this review, however, is shaping up to be more of a transformative renegotiation. Discussions are set to focus on areas of non-compliance, places where the agreement can be updated to reflect new global trade and multilateral realities, and how new U.S. tariffs may add complexities.
On October 28, the Brookings USMCA initiative convened an expert panel to discuss the forthcoming USMCA review, what to expect, and the challenges to and opportunities for a successful outcome.
Viewers submitted questions for the panel via email to [email protected], via X to @BrookingsGlobal or using #USMCAReview, or using #USMCAReview on Bluesky.
