Caribbean Regional Disaster Response and Management Mechanisms: Prospects and Challenges

Caribbean nations are particularly vulnerable for a number of reasons to the increased frequency and severity of disasters, both natural and man-made but regional organizations can be the next step in disaster risk management. Following research on the existing regional framework, Mark Kirton contrasts the present obstacles of overlapping national, regional and international frameworks with the potential success of a consolidated Caribbean regional disaster management mechanism.
