Testimony: U.S. Energy and Climate Security

Recent national security challenges to the United States such as the crisis in Ukraine, instability in Iraq and the issue of Iran’s nuclear program possess significant energy and climate security elements. On July 22, David Goldwyn, a nonresident senior fellow with the Energy Security Initiative at Brookings and president of Goldwyn Global Strategies LLC, delivered testimony on the U.S. security implications of international energy and climate policy issues before a hearing of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. In his testimony, Goldwyn examines the intersection between U.S. climate and security goals and how policymakers can work to address current global energy crises through energy diplomacy, promoting technical assistance and supporting exports.
