Changing assumptions in the Islamic world: A preview of the 2015 U.S.-Islamic World Forum

We’re close to this year’s U.S.-Islamic World Forum, taking place June 1-3 in Doha. This year’s Forum theme is “Changing Assumptions,” and we’ll be examining the historic shifts in geopolitical realities and social norms in Muslim communities.

As always, our Forum will include working and action groups to make policy recommendations and launch initiatives to address problems of mutual concern to the United States and Muslims around the world. The topics we will explore this year, related to the theme of changing assumptions, include: the strategic realignment of the interests and policies of the United States and its traditional Middle Eastern allies; the ways in which younger generations of Islamists are changing their thinking about politics; new approaches to combating ISIS propaganda networks; and strengthening community-led efforts to counter violent extremism.
