Brookings-LSE Project on Internal Displacement

Resources

The Brookings-LSE Project on Internal Displacement has long been involved in more than research and publications alone. Educational offerings and resources for interested scholars, practitioners, and policymakers are also key components of the Project’s mission. The materials available on the Project website have been used in a number of country contexts for on-the-ground trainings and workshops, and by researchers and lawmakers from around the world pursuing best practices regarding IDP policies.

The manuals available on the website include resources and guidelines that may be applicable to humanitarians in the field, researchers studying IDP policies or legislators interested in designing laws and policies that conform to the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement.

The training and workshops page contains information regarding the Project’s various educational and training offerings. Regular offerings include courses focusing on the fundamentals of the normative frameworks addressing internal displacement as well as specialized workshops on human rights-based approaches to natural disasters.

The Project also curates an index of existing laws and policies on internal displacement. A growing number of states have committed themselves to the protection of IDPs through various laws and policies. This index provides an overview of what various states have done to address the issue of internal displacement.
