On the passing of Madeleine Albright

March 23, 2022

Madeleine Albright was an extraordinary public servant who truly personified the American Dream. Having arrived in the U.S. as a young girl from war-torn Czechoslovakia, she rose through hard work and exemplary leadership to become one of the world’s most widely respected and admired officials. As a trailblazing first female secretary of state, educator, author, diplomat, and businesswoman, Secretary Albright dedicated her life to strengthening America’s alliances and relentlessly advocating for democracy and human rights around the world.

Her legacy is one of empowerment, ingenuity, and true grit—she was a shining example to us all. I join millions of Americans, and many more friends from the international community, in offering my most sincere condolences to the Albright family. May her memory continue to inspire us, and to burn brightly for all the days to come.
