The Economic Studies program at Brookings is looking for freelance data visualization designers/developers to help us build innovative online presentations of data-heavy research findings.

We’re looking for someone very comfortable digging through data independently and making recommendations on what to present and how. The work will be available on a project-by-project basis and will span issues in economic policymaking (i.e. student loans, economic mobility, taxes, health care).

You should be able to: work in Python, R, or SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Illustrator; map data with GIS or other tools; work with Data Drive Documents (D3). Ability to work in Stata is a major plus, as are ideas on how to improve presentation of data to make published research replicable for other academics and researchers.

Brookings is based in Washington, D.C., but the work can be done remotely. If you’re interested in learning more, send your portfolio and resume to Delaney Parrish, Director of Communications for Economic Studies, at [email protected].
