Content from the Brookings Institution India Center is now archived. After seven years of an impactful partnership, as of September 11, 2020, Brookings India is now the Centre for Social and Economic Progress, an independent public policy institution based in India.

This event was held in collaboration with Centre for Civil Society. The objective of this event was to take advantage of the range and depth of experience of experts to address specific themes being covered by the MHRD’s ongoing deliberations, and workshop ideas that we hope to collectively pass on to the Ministry to feed into the New Education Policy. The Ministry’s ongoing deliberations are scheduled to conclude by the end of November.  We believe this event was timely to cap off these deliberations and offer concrete policy suggestions while the NEP document was being drafted.

The discussions will be divided into three sessions to deliberate ideas under three themes or areas – learning outcomes (quality management issues), access issues (access by all and for all), and governance structure (framework for accountability-autonomy relationships.
