Based on the Carl Bertelsmann Prize 1996 on the topic “Innovative School Systems in an International Comparison,” educational practitioners, school board members and academics from Canada, Germany, Hungary, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland and Switzerland established the International Network of Innovative School Systems (INIS). The Network exchanges views on quality standards, accountability, and developments in education. This report sums up the results of the first phase of the INIS initiative.
