In the tenth “How We’re Doing” Index, Brookings scholars Alan Berube and Domenico Lombardi find that solid U.S. growth in this year’s third quarter hasn’t been enough to shore up consumer confidence in the nation’s economy. Citing the sweeping fiscal crisis in the Eurozone, declining U.S. exports and uneven productivity nationwide, Lombardi notes that we’re doing better, but not well enough.
