Volunteering has become an important development tool as corporations, NGOs and faith-based organizations engage in volunteer efforts at home and abroad to help improve lives. In recent years, governments have also explored volunteering as part of their public diplomacy programs and civic activities to further strengthen relationships and international understanding.
