Senator Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-Del.), the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, delivered an address Thursday on U.S. policy in Iraq at the Brookings Institution.

Biden spoke one year after he convened Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearings on Iraq. In reviewing the Bush administration’s handling of the war and its aftermath, Biden discussed the policy struggles within the administration and how these disagreements could affect the way America deals with other trouble spots around the world.

Brookings Senior Fellow Thomas E. Mann introduced Biden, who took questions from the audience following his speech.

The Brookings Leadership Forum provides high-level government officials from around the world the opportunity to address members of the Washington policy community and to share their insights and perspectives on world events as well as on issues of particular concern to their countries.
