AI Safety and the Global Majority

Global Majority communities, including those within Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, the Middle East, Oceania, and Asia, continue to be underrepresented in AI research and development (R&D) and policy discussions focused on governing these technologies. The advent of efforts focused on promoting AI safety, including the series of AI summits, the launch of AI safety institutes, and the development of technical methodologies continue to reflect these disparities.

To globalize perspectives on AI safety, the “AI Safety and the Global Majority” series convenes experts from the Global Majority to counter Western-centric assumptions in AI safety and examine strategies to broaden inclusion in these critical conversations.
