William Richards is the Director of Communications for the Economic Studies program at Brookings. In this role, he leads strategic communications to increase visibility of the program’s research activities and influence public policy debates. He works closely with a talented communications team at Brookings and manages digital strategy, content development, as well as media relations. As a member of the program’s leadership team, he contributes to organizational strategy, management decisions, and development goals.
Bill holds a Ph.D. in Art & Architectural History from the University of Virginia. He is the author of Revolt and Reform in Architecture’s Academy: Urban Renewal, Race, and the Rise of Design in the Public Interest (Routledge, 2016), as well numerous journal and magazine articles.
