On July 7-8, 2010, just weeks after the United Nations Security Council imposed sanctions on Iran, the Saban Center for Middle East Policy partnered for the second time with United States Central Command (CENTCOM) and the Army Directed Studies Office to convene over 150 experts, including CENTCOM Acting Commander Lieutenant General John Allen, to discuss developments in Iran.

The conference, Partnership, Strength, and Presence: Converging Regional Interests and Opportunities in the Gulf, featured keynote remarks from Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen and Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Michèle Flournoy, and examined policy options for maintaining international unity in addressing Iran’s defiance of the global community over its nuclear program.

The proceedings from the conference include summaries of the sessions and two analysis pieces derived from the discussions.
