Editor’s Note: In collaboration with the Financial Times (FT), Eswar Prasad and Karim Foda of Brookings have developed a set of composite indexes which track the global economic recovery. The Financial Times has produced the Tracking Indexes for the Global Economic Recovery (TIGER) interactive map, which appears on the Financial Times Web site.
The global economic recovery is back on track, although it remains slow and unsteady. The recovery is being borne along by surging confidence in advanced economies and stabilization in the growth of emerging markets, but remains just a shock or two away from turning into another slump.
The Brookings-FT TIGER index shows that growth momentum exists yet remains tenuous across advanced and emerging market economies.
