The Brookings Greater Washington Research Program sent D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty and the City Council a report on the status of the implementation of the Comprehensive Housing Strategy Task Force recommendations. The Task Force, co-chaired by Brookings Senior Fellow Alice Rivlin, released its recommendations on January 31, 2006. The one-year-later statement by Dr. Rivlin was accompanied by a detailed matrix showing the status of each of the Task Force’s many recommendations and the name of the D.C. government agency responsible for carrying out each proposal. Dr. Rivlin complimented former Mayor Williams and last year’s D.C. City Council for the initial progress made in moving forward with a number of key proposals. She went on to say that there is much more that needs to be done to complete the critical affordable housing agenda set forth by the Task Force.
