Shadi Hamid says realistically the only way Tamarod’s campaign will succeed is if mass violence provokes the military to step in. Even in this case, however, the entire list of Tamarod’s justifications for seeking Morsi’s overthrow will equally plague his successor. The key, Hamid concludes, is finding a way to bring disaffected Egyptians back into the political process.
