In the aftermath of the recent Ukrainian parliamentary elections, Steven Pifer tells Tyzhden’  (the Ukrainian Week) that the United States and European countries see Ukraine as moving away from a democratic course. Increasingly, he says, the U.S. Congress and State Department have begin to speak harshly about the worsening political and economic conditions in Ukraine, even mentioning sanctions against individual government offenders.
