A Preview of the 2012 NATO Summit

Managing Russia’s continuing objections to NATO’s plans for a missile defense system in Europe will be a high priority item at the upcoming NATO talks in Chicago. While charting a course for the future of Afghanistan is crucial, Steven Pifer, director of the Arms Control Initiative at Brookings, says much of the discussion will focus on Russia’s opposition to NATO’s missile defense plans and the tensions that are growing between Russian leadership and NATO.
