President Obama is clashing with some members of Congress over the Keystone XL pipeline, which he rejected on the grounds that an accelerated, 60-day review period set by Congressional Republicans was insufficient to fully study the project. While environmentalists applaud the decision, proponents criticize the president for delaying a $7 billion infrastructure project that could create thousands of new jobs and reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil.

Do the economic benefits of the pipeline outweigh its potential environmental costs, and will it ultimately be built? How will the issue play on the campaign trail as President Obama defends his decision against the eventual Republican nominee?
