Content from the Brookings Institution India Center is now archived. After seven years of an impactful partnership, as of September 11, 2020, Brookings India is now the Centre for Social and Economic Progress, an independent public policy institution based in India.

Strobe Talbott and Ken Lieberthal engaged a wide variety of Indian ministers, intellectuals and policymakers, discussing issues related to U.S. foreign policy, as well as the Chinese leadership transition. During the event, moderated by Subir Gokarn, key issues of discussion were U.S. President Barack Obama’s South Asia policy, as well as his foreign policy priorities in a second term and how his administration would go about achieving them.

Attendees at the dinner discussion included Communications Minister Kapil Sibal, Chairperson of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Rajendra K. Pachauri, Former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar and many other political, bureaucratic, corporate and media leaders
