Lisa V. Wood

Nonresident Senior Fellow - Foreign Policy, Energy Security and Climate Initiative

Lisa Wood is a nonresident senior fellow with the Energy Security and Climate Initiative in Foreign Policy at Brookings. She is vice president of The Edison Foundation and executive director of the foundation's Institute for Electric Innovation (IEI), which focuses on advancing the adoption and application of new technologies that will strengthen and transform the power grid. She is also an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. Prior to launching IEI, Wood was a principal with The Brattle Group and director of Brattle’s Washington, D.C. office; a principal with PHB Hagler Bailly; and a program director at RTI International. In those positions, she directed economic, financial, and market analysis studies for leading electric utilities nationwide.

Through numerous articles, dialogues and speaking engagements, Wood provides thought leadership on current issues and innovation in the power sector.  Under Wood’s leadership, IEI published three recent books: "Innovations across the Grid: Partnerships Transforming the Power Sector," in 2013; "Innovations Across the Grid: Volume II," in 2014; and "Thought Leaders Speak Out: The Evolving Electric Power Industry" in 2015. She is a member of the advisory board for GE Energy New Business; the Board of Directors for Energate, Inc., and the Board of Directors for the National Energy Foundation.

Wood holds a doctorate in public policy and management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a master's from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor's from Rutgers College.
